Re: Bulletin Board for PCJr

I always thought it would be awesome if there was a telnet text only front end to vBulletin or phpBB so that you could use the web interface or telnet and have the same forum content.

Re: Dreaded Two Beeps...

When I first got a PCjr I had the two beep thing as well, no display. In my case I tried reflowing a bunch of solder joints to no avail. Then I discovered poking around in the BIOS listing that there's some post codes that can be outputted to the serial port when joystick buttons are held down that ...

Re: Schematic: Racore 1504/1507 Disk Upgrade

The problem with the old MFM drives is that the controller and drive are pretty much a matched pair. If you have a very similar controller or drive you can do a swap, but basically the low level format depends on the combination of the two, so you just can't turn around and swap the drive or contro...

ColorPaint with Tandy Mod?

Can someone confirm to me whether or not the ColorPaint cartridge is supposed to work with the Tandy mod installed? On my system I get ye olde vertical lines in the display.

Re: SPC Diskitjr

Hard to say. There isn't much code that uses an 8087, so it's not a terribly useful option. A 286 accelerator on a PCjr is a nice gag, but if I wanted an AT I would have started with one. ;-0 Or put another way, at some point if you add enough options you don't have a PCjr .. you have a highly inco...

Re: SPC Diskitjr

The conversation about the Diskitjr was kind of funny ... it's one of those items that is definitely R@RE! L@@K!, but that doesn't translate to expensive. I'd rather have a jrIDE a few times over. There are a few other weirdo things floating around out there. I've never seen a Jr with the VGA sidec...

Re: Tandy Video Mod

I am wondering if anyone else has problems with their mod on some PCjr programs. Notably, I have noticed that Colorpaint doesn't display properly on my jr with the mod performed. Of course, there could always be an issue with the mod I did, but it seems that most everything else I've tried with it w...

FYI.... new motherboards

Just in case anyone was wondering, I just verified with Sears Parts Direct that brand-new motherboards are available for the low low price of $290! They had a few odd parts that were intriguing that I tried to see what the availability was (test plug, post plug), that was the only thing I checked on...

Re: Quadram second drive & memory expansion malfunctions

Do you have joysticks and/or a serial cable connector perchance? You can use the joysticks to enter a manufacturing test mode which should spit out more info to the display/serial port.

Re: Quadram second drive & memory expansion malfunctions

Generally if you can reduce a RAM expander down to a minimum amount of supported RAM, then that's usually a good troubleshooting step. You likely have a bad RAM chip. Does any other information display apart from the ERROR A?
