Might be worth modeling this off of what ADTPro does. The Apple II benefits from having console redirection in ROM, so there's no actual type-in program - essentially, you redirect I/O to serial, and then the ADTPro server types its stage 1 loader in automatically. I mean, cassette held on for longer in many parts of Europe, as I understand, so if they thought they could expand the PCjr into European markets, that may have been a factor, too? The C64 cartridge space overlapping the 64k RAM space wouldn't have been that big of a problem, though, in that machine...

That sounds like it could be heat-related, or potentially bad capacitors.
What are the weird errors, though?

What about EMS 4.0 with a large page frame?
Those cards usually recommended starting the page frame after 40000 (256k), anyway...
Granted, I don't think there's exactly much demand for running Desqview on a jr, but...
