Re: jr-IDE - Cannot boot from DOM or SD
I finally got it to work. I can now boot from the DOM and laptop hard drive. Probably same results for the SD, but I think I'll stick with the DOM, since I finally got it and it fits so well in the sidecar. I ended up hooking up the DOM, SD-to-IDE adapter, laptop hard drive with 40-to-44pin adapter,...

Re: jr-IDE - Cannot boot from DOM or SD
Well, that was weird. I went ahead and hooked up my 80GB IDE laptop HDD to the jr, using the 44-pin-to-40-pin adapter, and... the jr couldn't boot, not even from floppy. The jr-IDE displayed the name of the hard drive during POST as the first device, but when attempting to boot from that hard drive,...

jr-IDE - Cannot boot from DOM or SD
Hi, I decided to post a new topic rather than continue replying in the "LBA too old" thread, as so much time has passed and I've found that my problems aren't only with SD. I'll give an overview of my situation. I got a functional jr earlier this year (thank you, forum member, for hooking ...

Re: JR-IDE LBA Too Old
This is exactly the SD to IDE adapter that I bought, as well. This is the only listing on Amazon that gave a hint that it might be compatible by the description that says this: Attention: Some of the mother board required to enable LBA mode and disable DMA transfer mode. I just couldn't shake the f...

Re: JR-IDE LBA Too Old
I am also having the boot problem with an SD to IDE adapter not booting. I am using this SD adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G29TZPS with a store brand 32 GB SD card from Microcenter. I am running DOS 3.3. Like kotto7877, I can only use the drive if I boot from a floppy. If I try to bo...

Re: JR-IDE LBA Too Old
Tried my Jr-IDE tonight, got a message HD to old LBA (paraphasing) I ordered a Kingspec 8G DOM, and of course Ebay sends a Zheino brand and it gave the ‘too old for LBA’ message so I guess we can add the Zheino 8Gb to the ‘does not work list” chuck Gah!! This just happened to me -- a year after you...

Re: Getting 400k EA booters onto 360K disks
Anyone have any helpful info about this? I'm trying to do this, myself... with a game that I own for C64 but not PC (the PC one has not gone for an acceptable price on ebay since I started looking for it). I haven't had luck in putting one of these EA 400K images into a 360K floppy, but I've found s...

Re: Computer Reset
Just saw this post on a Facebook along with a bunch of pictures of the warehouse stocked full of vintage computers and parts. I've bought many things from Computer Reset through the years and remember drooling over their catalogs in the 80s... "CALLING ALL SERIOUS COLLECTORS: Come to Computer ...

Hello
Hi, I joined not too long ago. I was very pleasantly surprised to discover such a treasure trove of info about the PCjr. The PCjr was my first computer; my dad was an IBM employee and was able to get a PCjr and occasional upgrades at employee prices. We kept using it for 6 or 7 years, until it was t...
