Re: IBM YE-580 Floppy
I have 2 on the way and will keep you posted. These are direct drive rather than belt driven. Should be more reliable and likely quieter. Though I like the sound of the original Qume as it brings back memories.

IBM YE-580 Floppy
Anyone ever use the IBM YE-580 DS DD 360K 1/2 height drive in a PCJr with success?
These came with PC AT/XT machines in 1984.
Thanks

Re: Racore Drive II Error
Hi - thanks for the reply. I took it all apart yesterday to see what I had. Based upon looking at the manuals and the circuit board I have a Rapport 1200 non DMA with the full 384 extra RAM. I changed the clock battery (though the old one was still at the lower end of the green on my meter). The add...

Racore Drive II Error
Hi all - hoping there are some Racore Drive Two gurus out there! I have a PC Jr with the Racore Drive Two unit. The second floppy drive works just fine. I am not sure if I have the DMA unit or not - I need to pop the top and look. When I try to run the pow2clk.exe using the rapport v1 software I dow...

Re: SD-Cart JR: An MMC/SD card reader cartridge
Thanks! I have not heard about enough people using it with success yet, and I don't know how the boot ROM interacts with JR-IDE. i.e Which one has boot priority? Which one will be the first hard drive on the system? The problem is that it's not easy to update an OTP EPROM soldered to the board dire...

Re: Using PCJr Diskette Drive in other machines
I put one in an older HP Kayak Workstation.
You just need a PC old enough that has the 5.25 360K BIOS setting for the floppy.
I use the Kayak that I got on eBay for $35 as my 'tweener machine to write PCJr disks.

Re: What's needed to get this running?
I purchased my PCJr with Racore expansion for 195. It came with the keyboard, the two power bricks and two additional sidecars (IBM printer and memory - so its a 640K machine), joystick, some software. Great machine. It was also guaranteed to be working.

[RESOLVED] Floppy Drive Issue
Resolved: I did some more reading and a likely culprit was the LED or photocell for the index hole. Removed the drive and sure enough one lead was broken off of the photocell - likely just from age - that part never moves. Soldered it back and the drive works perfectly. I suppose it was just coincid...

Floppy Drive Issue
Here is an interesting issue perhaps someone can help with I am using an HP Kayak win 98 as my tweener machine. I put an actual PCJr 360 drive in it and windows 98 worked great with it. I subsequently downloaded HD-Copy (disk image DOS utility). That utility works great and can read disks and save t...
