Re: PC-Sprint negative: joysticks don't function

To go along with what everyone is saying, I'd be curious to see how well the joysticks (and every other device in the PCjr) works with PC-Sprint using the built-in Diagnostics (CTRL-ALT-INS). Or, if you're really clever, test everything using the built-in Advanced Diagnostics. I'd test this myself, ...

Re: Large files transfer to the PCjr

Thanks, Trixter! There are various reasons that I can't really post v1 online yet. When I get version 2 up & running, I'll be able to post those instructions online. I'm currently testing a LOT more network cards with my 5150 & 5160 computers with even more 'server' operating systems. When I...

Re: Large files transfer to the PCjr

Someone wrote a guide on getting it to work about 7-8 years ago That someone would be me. For those of you that don't know, I wrote a guide several years ago on how to connect a DOS-based computer (such as the PCjr) to a Windows (XP or Server 2003) computer using only one bootable floppy ...

Re: What are the extra hardware pieces...

I can help with describing some of the items on this listing. And before anyone asks, no, I am not the seller. I've been around PCjrs WAY too long, and I'm starting to get back into programming these things. And Mike, after reading a number of your posts, I can already tell you know what a lot of th...

Re: Racore sidecar battery type?

I was just going through all my vintage computer equipment today, and after reading your question, I decided to take apart the double-high sidecar on my Racore 1501 (should be similar to yours). Inside the sidecar, I noticed that there's a CR2032 battery in there. And as you've stated, it is a bit s...

Re: Help needed with mTCP and the Xircom PE3-10BT adapter

Hey Christian. Like I said before, it's nothing personal against you...it just bugs me that the adapter has issues. And you're probably right...something could have occurred during shipping. Since you already took apart the adapter, how about this oddball trick...any way to put a heat sink on that t...

Re: Help needed with mTCP and the Xircom PE3-10BT adapter

Boy, I'm always replying late to these threads! 'All 10 of my adapters' - stocking up? :-) Got 10 adapters, Jon? What for? I guess I should have taken two, after all! I wouldn't call 10 Xircom adapters stockpiling. I call 7 PCjrs, 2 IBM 5160 XTs (one with a 5161 Expansion Unit), 1 8088-compat...

Re: Help needed with mTCP and the Xircom PE3-10BT adapter

Hi Mike. I have one original Xircom power brick, as well as 3 Xircom mouse port power adapters. For a generic wall wart, I use a 3-12VDC 1A power brick (it's a big one!). All 10 of my adapters work without any power issues. With my dad's PCjr, I'm thinking that there's something with PC-DOS 3.30, wh...

Re: Help needed with mTCP and the Xircom PE3-10BT adapter

Hi Christian. Thank goodness you received the adapter in the mail. I was starting to wonder about that... Before I sent you the adapter, I tested it on 3 of my systems, and all of them worked fine with the Xircom. I'm curious about something...are you using a wall-wart AC-to-DC adapter to plug into ...

Re: Borderline PCjr floppy disk drives?

Christian - I think I know what your problem is with the keyboard and DOS 5. If I remember right, I think you have to manually set the stack segment using STACKS=0,0 in CONFIG.SYS. In DOS 3.x, it figures this out for you automatically, and in DOS 5, the default setting works fine in the other 8088 m...
