Re: Hardware Demos
Maybe someday I'll join a little bit :D. I'm still learning assembly in my "copious" (*cough*) spare time. In the mean time I've got some videos to get out and need to get back to fixing issues with my picoATX. I picked up Oscar Toledo's Programming Boot Second Games and More Boot Sector G...

Re: Base ram test or fix help?
Understood. I will follow your advice. I'll post results later ps I am missing several badges. I want to make simple sticker replacements. What font(s) are used for the "PC jr" letters? (I found a good image for the "IBM") Thanks Hmm, no idea, but PM me if you need a high res sc...

Re: Base ram test or fix help?
What are you using to power the boards? I only ask because I have seen some unusual issues with the floppy drive + jrATX + picoATX power supplies that I am slowly trying to get resolution on. Do you have a Gotek you can use in place of the floppy drive? Have you tried the built in tests (ctrl+alt+in...

Re: Getting a short, continuous chirp and screen flash on boot
Those look like diodes to me :) Right, that's totally what I meant! Hahaha I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'll get there  Ha, I remember in college having to ask one of my professors what the "chicklet looking thing" was...he laughed and told me it was a capacitor :D. But yeah, I...

Re: Broken display pins
Jason, those brackets look great and are reasonably priced. However, I did create a simple 3D model myself for the JJLKLPT connector. https://www.tinkercad.com/things/cYoawmd2k46 I'll probably create something similar for the display/serial connectors. Note, I could only test the joystick ports. My...

Re: Broken display pins
I think there are covers that fit ofer the back of the JR ports, they are add-ons, dont have them but have seen them on ebay (rare) and other pictures.. Here's a link to the covers that fit the JR on eBay. I bought a set a while back and am a fan! Note, I have no affiliation with the seller, I just...

Re: PCjr Acting Flaky
Time for some more A/B testing, wheeee! Had enough time for a few quick tests. All tests run with the same jrATX configuration 1) drive A (original drive) inside case - mostly loads but tends to fail when getting to first game screen with a disk error message repeatedly 2) drive A (original drive) ...

Re: PCjr Acting Flaky
Interesting. And thanks for the update on the power supply not being linear. I'll have to make sure I quit calling it that as well :). One thing that I noticed the other day as I was poking around is that if I probe the floppy drive at the power input connector (with the system fully powered/connect...

Re: PCjr Acting Flaky
Okay, short update! I got some more caps in to try out and discovered that I need to clean up the 12 V power as well. I did one of the past tests of using the original PCjr supply to supply the 12 V and the jrATX powering the 5 V (to the floppy and the M/B). And this worked fairly reliably! Although...
