Re: New Telnet client for old DOS machines
I installed the FileZilla ftp server on my Win XP machine. Now what? The server is listening on port 21 but I have no idea what IP address to use to connect to it from the PCjr which is directly connected to the router. My XP machine does not have a fixed IP address since it uses DHCP. I have to adm...

Tandy graphics
Hi.
I keep reading that Tandy graphics are essentially the same as those of the PCjr, yet whenever I choose Tandy graphics in a game (such as FS3 for example), the screen image is marred by horizontal black lines. Is there a patch available to fix that problem?

Re: New Telnet client for old DOS machines
Ah glorious ANSI colors! Thanks for the update Mike - It works perfectly now. It would be really cool if the forum was running on a real PCjr. By the way, have you considered creating a small ftp server where you can place all the software on your site? I can't seem to figure out how to get my XP ma...

Re: New Telnet client for old DOS machines
Thanks for taking the time to update telnet. The Keep BBS has practically no traffic on the message boards because most users go straight to the games section. In addition, since it is not system specific, there are far better forums to use online for general discussions. The only BBS'es that have a...

Re: New Telnet client for old DOS machines
This BBS has a dialout line which can be used to connect to other BBS's which are still operating on analog phone lines and modems. As it happens, the only surviving TI 99/4A BBS is one of those, and using the keep as a gateway is the only way for those who do not have modems or even regular phone l...

Re: Dallas 1216E Clock/Calendar
My 8088 chip is socketed, so that should not be a problem. I found and bought a V20 on ebay, and I'll let you know how it goes.

Man! You keep giving me more projects to do
Is the V20 fully backward compatible with the 8088?

Re: New Telnet client for old DOS machines
I'm actually connecting to a BBS (thekeep.net) and I'm not sure on what OS it runs, but I will ask. My LPT2 board is always recognized as long as there is nothing connected to it at boot, then it works just fine afterward...

Re: Starting a PCjr coding project, need advice
Since your last post, have you started your project? Did you eventually settle on a programming language? I personally cut my programming teeth on the TI 99/4A which I still actively program, and on that platform Basic was really not a solid option for heavy duty projects given the double interprete...

Dallas 1216E Clock/Calendar
Last thing on my PCjr hardware list was the Dallas 1226E Clock/Calendar chip which arrived today, and to my delight was a breeze to install and setup. Now I think I have a decently appointed system with 640K, 2 parallel ports, parallel Zip drive, Xircom parallel ethernet adapter, clock/calendar chip...
