Re: Group chat?
I will try to make it and use my PCjr. to connect to the chat as well. I wonder if five PCjr.s would be too ambitious? Ten?

Re: NEC V20 Question
Make sure you don't overlook the obvious, are you sure your 8088 is socketed in your PCjr? Most are, some aren't.

Re: Is Serial Mouse Useful?
A mouse is very useful for PCjr. Colorpaint. As far as games go, few come to mind that will work on the PCjr (without hacking) and run on a PCjr. at a tolerable speed. Tass Times in Tonetown should, and probably Borrowed Time as well. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2.0 may support it, but I cannot see t...

Re: Cheapest DOM for the JrIDE?
40 pin. Many DOMs use pin 20 as a +5v rail, but many IDE ports do not have this pin present on the header. They also have some other kind of power connector. jrIDE supports +5v on pin 20.Tempest wrote:So do I want a 40 pin DOM or 44 pin?

Re: Windows 1.0 on Jr
I agree the hardware should be running something the PCjr actually did at the time. Unless marked otherwise, systems should try to represent history; running Windows was not something people did with a PCjr. I don't see the need to remove the jrIDE -- A small note about what it is would be interest...

Re: Mystery Cable...it's not a serial cable
How many pin holes are there in the BERG Amphenol connector? Are any blocked off, a.k.a. keyed? I cannot tell if it is a 6-pin or an 8-pin cable. 8-pin cables connect to the joystick or cassette ports, 6-pin cables to the keyboard, light pen or Television adapter ports. All of them are keyed. Does t...

Re: TV adapter question.
Having obtained one of IBM's TV adapters, I can say that it is no different from any console TV adapter compared to a composite mod. Essentially, compared to the composite audio and video, you will hear more muffled sound, more ghosting and a swirly kind of video noise that is noticeable on solid co...

Re: Did IBM ever make a Serial Mouse?
I'm not aware that they ever did. I would think that a Microsoft serial mouse would be the closest contemporary substitute. IBM put out a PC with a cassette connector and a PC gameport card, but never released cables for them, only for their PCjr. versions.

Re: Paku Paku -- 1.6 released 9 November 2011
I have a bug to report, the current 1.6 will always choose Adlib sound over Tandy/PCjr. sound, even if the /tandySound switch is used. Not quite as relevant to the PCjr. (unless you have a GameMaster sidecar) as to the Tandy, but still.

PCjr. Game Versions - New Discoveries
Until relatively recently, I was unaware that there existed special versions of these well-known games. Crossfire PCjr. Disk Version : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRl5crvH-FI http://www.pixelatedarcade.com/games/crossfire/coverart Uses 16-colors and 3-voice sound Wizard and the Princess (release...
