Cassette Cable - Aux Out Only
The Official IBM Cassette Adapter Cable has three audio jacks for a tape cassette recorder, one minijack for the Ear or Headphone jack, one microjack for the Remote jack and a second minijack for the Aux jack. My modern tape cassette recorder only has a Ear, Rem and Mic jack. Mic jacks require a muc...

Re: Cartridge games on floppy!
I returned my PCjr. to a pure, Tandy-modless, state and the Scubaventure problem went away. It also seemed to eliminate a garbage line (which did not affect gameplay) in Mouser.

DOS 2.1 on jrIDE - Any Benefit?
If you were to use PC-DOS 2.1 with the jrIDE, would there be any benefit besides less lower conventional memory used compared to DOS 3.3? The less conventional memory used is not that great a benefit, since DOS is loaded in the slow system board memory, whereas programs run in the fast jrIDE memory....

Re: PCjr Music composition software.
I found out that you can play music through Personal Deskmate 2's music program. In order to hear it, however, you just have to set the audio multiplexer with a program like tdysound prior to loading Personal Deskmate 2. The only serious issue is the ddoouubbllee cchhaarraacctteerrss with keyboard i...

Re: Cartridge games on floppy!
Colorpaint was originally designed for use with mice that connected via sidecar. So it was of course possible to have mouse + compact printer connected at the same time. I think the problem may be an conflict between the PCjr. BIOS and the ColorPaint program. Surely you didn't mean to write this ;-...

Re: Cartridge games on floppy!
The mouse probably must support the Microsoft mouse interface for transmitting data packets to the serial port. The Microsoft Booster mouse is a bus mouse, so it will not work. So to use a Compact Printer, you need a serial switchbox. and the appropriate pin converters (BERG to D-Shell for the syste...

Re: Cartridge games on floppy!
Does ColorPaint work with anything other than a serial mouse? A joystick perhaps? The Microsoft Booster sidecar mouse? If not, I don't see how you could use the mouse and print from the Compact Printer, at the same time?

Re: PCjr Music composition software.
Personal Deskmate 2 will show an ungarbled mouse cursor, but it also displays ddoouubbllee cchhaarraacctteerrss with the PCjr. keyboard, making it rather less than usable. I had no luck playing music through the music program, but I only tried it for a second.

Re: Cartridge games on floppy!
I tried my serial mouse with the PCjr.'s serial port, and the program did not boot :( I think the problem may be an conflict between the PCjr. BIOS and the ColorPaint program. I am thinking that, based on the information in this thread, it may be better to work ColorPaint into a DOS 2.1 boot disk : ...

Re: PCjr Music composition software.
I think this may be a case where only Tandy's mouse drivers will work. I know of a mouse driver for their DigiMouse boards and their Joystick-Mouse driver. The Joystick-Mouse driver only works in Tandy 1000s, probably because the underlying joystick hardware is different from the PC and PCjr. Would...
