Can I partition and format the drive on another computer using my USB/IDE adapter or must I format on the jrIDE?

jrIDE Install Instructions

Sorry for the basic question to follow...

I just received an assembled jrIDE from Alan. I have been having trouble finding basic installation instructions to get it up and running with a basic IDE hard drive.

If someone could point me to them I would be appreciative!
