I don't have a way to program PALs, but 0603/TSSOP are not a problem for me. Same with desoldering the existing chip. From what I can tell, PAL programmers are not hard to build. What was happening is that it would hang, sometimes with graphic corruption, when it started to boot. I assumed it was just a boot loader issue, but it actually turned out that files on the disk were corrupted too. Has anyone been successful in getting this to work with a jrIDE? I have a floppy that boots no problem, but I cannot for the life of me get it to work via a 1GB Compact Flash card.

jrIDE - disable colorburst?
Is it possible to get a version of the BIOS that disables the NTSC colorburst (e.g., mode bw80)? There would be no effect on RGBI displays, but those of us using composite will get readable text... and you could always switch it back just before loading the bootsector.

I'm interested in this board, though I don't need tools or assembly (yes, even the SMDs) if you want to save the preassembled boards/tools for someone else who doesn't have experience with this stuff.
