Raspberry PI as PCjr Floppy Emulator?

Postby crustyasp » Sun Dec 01, 2013 7:14 am

Found this article for an Amiga floppy drive emulator, and was wondering if anyone has the knowledge to port this for the PCjr? I don't have the knowledge to do it, but would love to see this ported to other systems as well. http://amigadrive.blogspot.ca/

Neat little project. Seems like a good idea since some of the commercial floppy drive emulators can get pricey.

There are probably a few minor differences in the FDC interface, since there's some additional signals on Amiga floppy drives for disk change signals that aren't used with PC drives, but the other larger issue is that Amiga disks are formatted using GCR encoding vs MFM on IBM floppies. So the code for formatting the data would have to change significantly most likely.
