Cartridge Basic available memory

Postby Vorticon » Sun Nov 20, 2016 6:14 pm

Hi.
I noticed something funky: When booting up with the JR IDE and launching cartridge Basic, my available memory is only about 8K... Booting up from drive A:, it's about 60K which is what it should be. I do have the full 640K RAM complement on board.
What gives?

Cartridge BASIC wasn't designed to run on an expanded memory system.

There are programs that do some fix-up of the memory locations that Cartridge BASIC is looking at. Each of the memory sidecar systems came with such a program; I remember jrBASIC.COM was one of them. Find one of those and use it, and you should be fine.
