BTW, thanks for this testing, it's already helped me create a FAQ file and make things better. Keep testing and let me know if anything else goofy pops up. Once you're happy with things, I can make a larger distro available (ie. more games) or I can make the indexer available so that you can copy over your own archives.

Anyone else want to try? (Did I post this request in the wrong forum, maybe?)

Actually I don't think swapping has anything to do with the backpack driver one way or another. I thought it did, but I get reboots either way if I have the backpack driver loaded.

BTW I don't think you actually need a backpack drive to test the driver, you can probably just load the driver on its own.

Can you make the backpack driver available? If it loads without an actual backpack attached, I can give it a shot.

Sure I'll get that up tomorrow. IIRC it gives you an error if the drive isn't attached but still loads it into memory.

WRONG! Bad Trixter! I meant to write "MODE BW80". That works, so give that a shot and see if it's easier to read. (It's the same color scheme as an MDA would see.)

I believe this is the same driver I'm using: http://www.minuszerodegrees.net/transfe ... driver.zip

Will this system work with IBM XT systems as well?

It works with any system that can run DOS. I tested it with protected-mode programs too (ie. games that use DOS4GW).

The backpack.sys driver you posted has some 80186 instructions in it (pusha/popa). Does your PCjr use an NEC V20?

Edit: With or without the backpack driver, I was able to reproduce a bug; I can't launch a Pinball Construction Set table from the TDL, but I can start it just fine in DOS. I'm investigating.

No I don't, I guess that's not the same version. I'll post the version I have when I get home if you still need it.

I don't think I need it; I think we're running into PCjr incompatibility issues. For example, I found why I couldn't run Pinball Construction Set tables: They don't run if jrconfig is loaded. If you boot from a clean floppy (patched DOS, stacks=0,0 in config.sys), they run fine off the hard drive. But if I add a jrconfig line to config.sys and boot off of the same floppy, suddenly they don't.

I'll try some more games that I know were rated for use on a PCjr (like Sierra games) and if I find anything goofy I'll report back, but for now I'm going to chalk it up to PCjr incompatibilities. I'm also going to add timestamps to the TDL.LOG and also not erase it on every program start, so that a running log can be kept with multiple attempts.

I can try this on my 5150+XT-IDE card and see if I get similar issues.
