MicroSolutions Backpack Floppy Driver?

Post by jason »

Does anyone have or know where I can find an updated version, or even just a manual for the MicroSolutions Backpack Floppy option? I have a 5 1/4" HD drive expansion from them that mounts to an extra parallel port, but the driver I have appears to be a bit older and I can't find any documentation.

My disks say 1991, and there is no information on boot up as to the version or anything. Basically, I'm hoping for a newer version that might be able to work with a 3 1/4" drive, it appears from googling that such a thing does exist, but I can't get the program command line arguments to work so I'm assuming my version is pre 3 1/4".

Any one?

I've got the manual and drivers for the backpack 1.44 floppy.
How can I get them to you?

Awesome, that could help me a lot.

I'm not sure how to send a PM through this board, and it doesn't appear that my e-mail address is visible either.

Thanks!

Well, the manual is of great help, but the driver still won't recognize my drive as a 3 1/2" drive. It always thinks it's a 5 1/4". I'm not sure how it's determining this. I can't find any jumpers or anything to switch. Somehow the driver talks to the parallel to floppy chipset or something and determines that it is setup for a 5 1/4" disk, regardless of what I have actually connected. :?

Anyone have any clues as to how it might be doing this, or how I can force it to treat it as a 1.44 MB drive instead of 1.2 ?

Jim, I have a Bantam Backpack from Microsolutions; model 181100, as well. Noted from your post to Jason that you were able to help with the drivers (and Manual). Was wondering if you could do the same again? I'm in need of the the drivers as well and would appreciate if you help out (as well as the Manual which would also be helpful).

thanks,
mike

That would be a big, big help.

Now, how best do I give you my address? I noted when I view your profile, you can "Add Friends", so being new to this forum, I'm not quite sure if this is how I connect with you e-mail-wise, or is there a certain protocol to follow?

Email problem worked around for now - check your personal email.

If this continues to be a problem I'll turn on the private messages so that nobody has to worry about posting an email address publicly.
