So I bought this cable off someone thinking it was a PCJr serial cable. When I went to plug it in, I realized the plug is too small.
So what is it? Maybe it's not even a Jr cable at all. It has the correct type of AMP connector,a db25, but the plug is not wide enough. See the attached pic.
Thanks,
Corey
Mystery Cable...it's not a serial cable
Re: Mystery Cable...it's not a serial cable
How many pin holes are there in the BERG Amphenol connector? Are any blocked off, a.k.a. keyed? I cannot tell if it is a 6-pin or an 8-pin cable. 8-pin cables connect to the joystick or cassette ports, 6-pin cables to the keyboard, light pen or Television adapter ports. All of them are keyed. Does the DB-25 have a male or female end? How long is the cable itself?
Re: Mystery Cable...it's not a serial cable
That cable belongs to a PC RT or RS/6000 and is not usable on the PCjr.
Re: Mystery Cable...it's not a serial cable
Well I guess if I can figure out what it is I can sell it and use the money to buy JR serial cable.
It's about 13" long including connectors.
So if anyone knows what it is, let me know.
Thanks,
Corey

Re: Mystery Cable...it's not a serial cable
Corey - sorry, I thought I was specific enough.
It's a serial cable for either a PC RT or an RS/6000. Look for the IBM FRU or part number on it and that will tell you what you need.

Sorry, I didn't know what an IBM RT was, RS6000 I had heard of so I was confused.
I guess I'll be cracking open my sealed box of PCjr serial cable so I can send files over from my Macbook to my Jr.
Thanks,
Corey
