Another new guy here...

Hello everyone,

I picked up a PCjr via Craigslist a few months back and recently found some time to check it all out and play with it some.
It is the 128K model and has the parallel port sidecar as well as a 512K memory expansion sidecar.
I am hoping to get a hard drive (perhaps jrIDE) for it eventually as well as figure out how to get it on the network.
I never has one of these when I was a kid (I had TI-99/4A, then a C64, then an Amiga 500) but I had a friend with a PCjr and we used to play games on it all the time.
I always wanted one, and now I finally have one! Very excited.

I have a modest collection of 70s and 80s computers and I enjoy using, repairing and restoring them.

I attached a couple pictures of my jr.

Welcome!

For networking check out the Xircom PE3 10BT adapter - it attaches through the parallel port and provides a real, Ethernet interface. It's not as fast as a native Ethernet card, but given that we have no ISA slots it is a great compromise. Details can be found here: http://www.brutman.com/Dos_Networking/xircom_pe3.html

And for TCP/IP applications check out mTCP, which was designed pretty much for the PCjr: http://www.brutman.com/mTCP/
