Nobody should use the TV adapter unless desperate.
Yes plugging in directly from the PCjr to the RCA input on the TV worked much better than the adapter..with the TV adapter, the colors and RAM count at start up were at the top of the screen.

Here is the link to the unit I was referring to: http://www.bit-c-128.com/buy. I bough this, a Gonbes 8200, and a power supply. I had to adjust the pots on the Gonbes a little to get the colors right, but it will give you much better resolution than composite. I can work in 80 columns comfortably.
Enhanced PCjr with a jr-IDE (1GB DOM) and a parallel port side car with a compact flash reader and backpack 1.44mb floppy attached. Tandy video mod.

The gglabs unit is much better. The bit-c128 hardware is fundamentally flawed in various ways. gglabs unit can be found here: https://gglabs.us/node/2022
