PCjr Monitor Adjusts

The picture on my PCjr monitor is a little too far to the right, is there a way to change the horizontal position? There's nothing on the outside of the case, but I was wondering if there was something inside the case. Some monitors have hidden adjusts, but I thought I'd check before I cracked it open.

Depending on what program you're running (can't be one that uses its own keyboard handling) you can press CTRL+ALT+LEFT or CTRL+ALT+RIGHT to adjust the horizontal position.

Is this a permanent change or is it just temporary until I power down?

It's temporary. Also seems to reset when the video mode changes.

So is there a hidden set of adjusts inside the monitor? Some do, but most don't. I just thought I'd check in case someone had cracked theirs open at some point.

There are a few adjustments inside the monitor, but I don't think there's one for horizontal position. I've used the focus control and sub-brightness, though.

EDIT: Well... I suppose it's technically possible to adjust the horizontal position by messing with the deflection yoke, but I would strongly advise against doing that. I've been doing that with a TV I got off Craigslist, and the results have been far from satisfactory.

I'd open it up. I've never seen a CRT device from that era that did not have a horizontal adjustment somewhere. It is unfortunate that it is not visible through the case though.

Yeah those seem to be the common adjusts inside, and I don't want to screw with the yoke (did that on my old Mac, it was a dangerous pain in the ass). I'll just live with it and use those keys when it actually annoys me.

Actually, here's something I hadn't thought of, from the JrConfig manual:
/An will move the screen n positions to the left, use /An
where n is from 1 to 7.

/Bn will move the screen n positions to the right, use /Bn
where n is from 1 to 7.
So, that would be good for setting the position from boot. I don't know if it keeps it in the same position for all graphics modes, but it would probably be worth a try.

EDIT: Eh, I just checked it, and the position is still lost when the video mode changes.

It's still something I can toss in my config.sys. Not perfect, but it should be better than nothing.
