5.25" Drive

Post by Tempest »

Is it possible to use the 5.25" drive from a PCjr in a regular PC? I find myself in need of a 360K 5.25" drive to write disks for other systems (such as my TRS-80) and I'm eye balling the one in my PCjr. If it is, does anyone have a spare 360K 5.25 drive so I don't have to grab the one out of my jr?

The PCjr drive is just a bog standard double density two sided drive. You can use it in the other PC system. I'm not sure what the requirements are for using it in a foreign system like a Tandy, but I suspect that the differences will be in the controllers and not the drive.

As always, Google first or check with TRS 80 collectors about the types of drives they have.

Oh this isn't going IN my TRS-80, I need a 360K drive to make disks FOR my TRS-80 using an emulator program. Unfortunately the emulator needs a 386 or better or I would just run it on my jr.

Anyone have a spare drive? :)
