Re: PCJR Speech Board 'NEW Deisgn'
I 3D printed an IBM Logo, then painted the face, this is going on the front of my system when repainted.....

Looking at the schematic, if I follow it right, you can use jumpers (or a switch) to change the assignments of up to three floppies. Do I have this right? For your Kings Quest copy, you did this without rebooting, right?
I'm thinking about adding a Gotek emulator to my jr and would love to be able to swap A: and B: between the 5 1/4 and Gotek depending on need. What software do you need to enable this? jr config?
Not sure I answered this, sorry for the delay,
but YES the jumpers allow you to swap the drive enable signals to all three drive, this gives you some flexibility to use multiple drives, like having 5.25 and 3.5 drive attached and then with a toggle sw just select which you want to use, but also with a DPDT switch you can swap A: and B: at will
Hope this helped..

Re: PCJR Speech Board 'NEW Deisgn'
This is SOOOOooooo cool! Chuck- your PCjr's in some of the earlier post pictures look like colorful legos stacked together! So much fun!
I'd be happy if I could just find a sidecar panel cover! BUT, now I have hope- that Krylon Almond color, painting perhaps thin plywood or maybe if I can get some plastic in a sheet, could make a repro one?
Awesome new ideas for these PCs! I'm inspired!
PS: I've done some PCboard making (not a spam- as I'm taking a break from selling the kits, but checkout putnamelectronics.com if you want to see what I've done before) so if you need any help with EE design- maybe I could help? You're probably already set in this area?
One more idea: I like phonyme based Speech.. Think speak n spell sound- it just sounds retro and cool! For many years, I had an old Gottlieb Blackhole pinball machine, and it would speak in that ridiculous robot sounding voice- and was just COOOLLL!
I wonder if there are any Parallax propeller based phonyme speech solutions out there? Might be easy/cheap to implement, and with a powerful microcontroller could really offset a lot of the load on the PCjr.. Text to speech would be greatly simplified for example.

Re: PCJR Speech Board 'NEW Deisgn'
Thanks Jason...
it's fun stuff as us baby boomers find time to play again....wow sooo nice...
there are lot's of options for the Jr nowadays...
I am sure many will chime in here and share... they always do !
but here is a list of some items to think about
V20 chip simple addon
PCSprint Board SPeed up the processor
Tandy Mod addon
PCJr to PC2 dongle for standard PS2 style keyboard
JRIDE add on for hard drive capability with FULL memory and RTC ( Credit Alan and Mike )
3Flop Board to allow 3 floppy controllers
JRCONFIG ( you are probably familiar with this )
Modem SLOT RS232 Serial board for FULL COM1 functionality, ( I am designing and testing this now )
This is the starter list......
