Most of my JRs don't have the floppy drive sled held in place right because the tabs on the ends of the legs are broken. How do you handle that? I broke off the little that was left and found that a #8 x 1/2" screw fit nicely in the hole and I was able to tighten it enough that the drive sled doesn't move. I am wondering if there is a better way though.

I use a screw and a long nut. Just make sure the screw doesn't stick out past the feet on the PCjr.

That looks VERY secure, but probably somewhat harder to do. I will have to see if I can find parts to do that. a regular nut with a wide washer would probably work well too.

I don't think the broken plastic tabs are really an issue, unless you want to mount the machine sideways or upside-down. If the machine is sitting flat on a desk and being used normally, the drive isn't going to move. And even better, I can remove it quickly when I want to examine something or clean the drive.

Yes, I only worry about it during shipping. I did the repair I mentioned because I sold the machine to another member and want to make sure it gets to him intact. I had one guy ship me a machine in a box with other items. He put it in the box sideways with the drive on top. The drive fell through the machine. The floppy adapter doesn't work and the slot for it is bent over at an angle, but the machine boots when a good floppy adapter is installed. Fortunately, I bought that lot for other suff that was in it and didn't care about the jr itself. I have a new motherboard to put in it someday.
