Assuming one could gather a sufficient number of external power bricks still in working order to service the necessary power sidecars, would such an abomination actually function? The sidecar connectors must produce some voltage drop . . .

It can't possibly work; it's hard to imagine that there would be any signal integrity left. You'd need "gateway/router" sidecars in between to relay the signals!

The longest PCJr I had reliably working had 4 128kb sidecars, 2 Power Supply sidecars, Parallel and Speech Synthesizer.
It was my main PCjr for a number of years. I don't know if I still have pictures of it somewhere ...
