Question for the ZIP drive Users... Attached to parallel port side car.
Seems that I have to toggle power on the Zip drive after boot up , using IDEjr and Palmzip and JRconfig..

The zip drive works fine if I toggle power but it will not find the drive, in my case E:
I have the Jr system and ZIP drive on the same power strip, so they get turned on together at power up..
Just wondering if any one else has seen this issue...

Upate:
I took off the Par Port side car and applied some Dow Corning 4 grease to the contacts, We use this on our equipment
that is deployed to the outdoors, it helps with moisture and contact corrosion especially on dissimilar metals.
The wife uses it in all her candles to keep the batteries from leaking, PS it works...

I put the side car back on and so far seems to be ok, I will test it when I turn the system on each time and
if the problem still persists, re-evaluate. but this seems to be a good fix as it was fine when I first put the system together...

It seems that you've got the fancy dielectric grease where you are . I've still got my lifetime supply from AutoZone when I spent $5 on a tube of it instead of $2 on a little packet... if I can find it...

Zip drives are notoriously bad for detection and functionality. I can't tell you how many times in my life (when Zip disks were common) I've had to power down the PC and drive, wait 5 minutes, power both back up, change nothing, and somehow it now worked. And it was solidly screwed in! It wouldn't surprise me if the "click of death" happens because people like me back in the day punched the stupid things too many times when they stopped working correctly.

HAHA...yes I know the anger issues with the Zip Drives...
I've been lucky the few I've bought have worked well..
when I started back with the Jr after a few years off, I contacted Klaus Peichl, the PALMZIP developer and bought a fresh copy from him
thought he was gonna 'dump' his shorts.. 2018 and buying a 1984 license for the Jr

I've been using the PalmZip driver for years. I think I purchased it over 15 years ago now.

I'd love to see the source code sometime; it's kind of slow and I'm sure it could be made faster with just a few simple tricks. I asked years ago but at the time Klaus was reluctant. It was less a matter of me leaking it to others and more a matter of "it works, let's not break it."
