Back in the day ARC51 et al, was the typical archive program I used..
I've since lost this and before I start to search for this or a similar, figured I would ask what the Jr folks on here reach for
when looking to Archive a program or batch of programs...
keeping in mind this is Jr based storage,

pkzip, since you'll need to read/write the files at least 5-10 years in the future. v2.04g is the best version to run in DOS; the later v2.50 version has strange issues regarding security envelopes and CRCs.

I've looked at some of the old storge sire, but not sure what name the 'might' be listed as, I only remember ARC as one of them

Oh, just grab pkunpak.exe. There's a copy in ftp://ftp.oldskool.org/pub/misc/xtfiles.rar if you don't want to hunt for it. It's way faster than SEA ARC anyway.

Was LHARC released in a PC compatible format?

lharc was LHA on the PC and was definitely released. You still see .lha files from time to time.
However, pkzip 2.04g outperforms it in every way so there's no reason to use it, or ARC, any more. You can use pkunpak to quickly extract .ARC files.
