jrIDE v2 - parallel port

Post by MattCarp »

Hi Alan,

Did you consider grafting a parallel port on to the jrIDE board?

It's a bit tight...but, with today's components, it should be possible?

Of course, the connector is a bit of a problem, space-wise.

There's probably enough room for a header connector, but you'd need a header to DB-25 cable.

What I'd rather see is some provision for attaching a daughter board (unpopulated through holes? pads which could be soldered to using a castellated board? both of these are free but require a slight redesign). Sidecar shells and the sidecar connector are both hard to come by, and there are things like this which would be trivial to add to a jrIDE card if there were a daughterboard provision.

Yes. I would totally do that. I think it would be worth it to eliminate that, one, extra, sidecar.

But yeah, slap some header pins in there, too.
