Re: PCjr ATX Power Supply Adapter
Brilliant idea! I am getting one from you just to have a spare way to power up my PCjr if the brick dies on me.

Re: Using a 5145 Monitor
Wow, I've never heard of the 5145 monitor. Some research shows it was meant to be the companion for an IBM 5140 convertible as an external monitor. Yes, the stand is designed to sort of fit under the back of the 5140, pushing the screen forward so that it is comfortably viewable as the 5140 can be ...

Re: Using a 5145 Monitor
You don't by any chance want to sell this monitor to me so you can go out and buy a new one for your use? Normally I would not really ask this type of thing, but I'd make it worth you time since I have an IBM 5140 and my 5145 suffered a tragic accident and I really need to get a 5145 because it matc...

Re: Problems installing DOS to JrIDE
Have you tried patching the boot sector manually? Trixsters utility did not work for me either, but manual patch with debug did the trick.

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
@Trixster - I think I can do that sometime in the next week or two.
@Alan - Oh, I had not realized the code was for the PCjr's BIOS, I thought it was specific to the jrIDE. Good to know!

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
Patching the boot sector worked like a charm. I still get the second "Press esc.." prompt, but from what I understand that is merely foible of JRConfig. @Trixster - Your patch program would not work for me, it kept saying "a fatal error has occurred" with little else in the way o...

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
Ahh, boot sector patch... Right, I'm willing to bet a million bucks the reason why my system is not booting directly off of the HDD is because of this, and that it is dropping into basic before I can see any error messages. JRConfig obviously does something at allows DOS to boot properly once it doe...

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
On the floppy is DOS 5, with JRConfig loaded in the config.sys, similar thing on the HDD. This seems to explain why I get a second "press esc..." prompt, but it does not explain why the system does not boot directly off the HDD till after the soft boot, since the hdd is definitely bootable...

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
The connector arrived today, and I bought myself a carpenter's vise. Very smooth on both sides, and I was able to get the connector on without any issue. But I am having some weird issues here. Let me try to explain. The BIOS detects the drive just fine (in my case I am trying both a 1Gb CF card in ...

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
Well first off the pins actually starting coming out of the female end of the connector. Then when I tried to plug them into the jr they got completely crushed. I tried using a nail to get them straightened out, and managed to fix all but a few which where a no go. I tossed it out, and have now boug...
