Re: Power Expansion sidecar positioning
From what I remember the sidecar only powers the sidecars to the right of it so the practical use of it would be to power all the additional sidecars. OTOH, a sidecar or two before it, which the PCjr is cable of powering, would be fine. There would be no point to add the power sidecar at the end of ...

Re: Windows 3.1 on Jr
Windows 3.1 requires a 286 actually. Windows 3.0 will run on a PCjr but not well. It ran in 16 colors with a modified special video driver, likely a modified Tandy driver

Re: SPC Diskitjr
The main advantage of the speed up board is it makes the late '80s games that still supported the PCjr video, specifically some Sierra ones and the Tandy 1000 games, more playable. The latter assuming you have a Tandy mod. With the Sierra games, the AGI games play well with a Standard PCjr but the S...

Re: PCjr on a VGA Monitor?
Interesting. I have a spare GBS, but I don't have any of the other parts and it looks like they'd be kind of pricey to acquire. I guess I'll stick with what I have for now. Forgive my ignorance here, but why is that separate DAC board needed? The PCjr outputs CGA (or a CGA superset anyway) and the ...

Re: I just paid $50 for a 4-drive floppy controller
I'm trying to find an 8-bit ISA SCSI card and you wouldn't believe some of the prices I am seeing for those. I have an old Seagate ST01, maybe it's an ST02 as it has a floppy interface. I think the Seagate ST01/02 were fairly limited in their device support. I don't have a SCSI drive to fully test ...

Re: I.WANT.V.G.A. lol
The PCjr puts out a CGA signal. The processing of the upscaling and conversion takes place in the d/a converter and cga to vga converter

Re: EMS memory on a Jr?
The MB of memory could be split with some going to DOS memory and the rest as a RAM drive. With the jrIDE having memory, I just use the Megaboard as a RAM driveTrixter wrote:And there's something else I never knew about the PCjr and PCE: A larger-than-768K expansion.

Re: EMS memory on a Jr?
I have EMS set up with my PCE Megaboard but the driver is not Megaboard specific. The driver is designed to use hard drive space as EMS but also works with the Megaboard set up as a RAM drive. I have also used it with the DOM through the jrIDE. It is LIM 3.2. It works great with Lotus 123 but there ...
