Re: Internal 512k expansion?
I already have a 40-pin wire wrap DIP socket on hand. The pins are too thick to seat in the PCjr's CPU socket. :( wet grind them down thinner with a dremel or rotary sander with a very fine grit. You might even consider doing it by hand with a decent sanding block. ... and trust me, don't try to do...

Re: Paku Paku -- 1.3 released
Now does the screen get corrupted like the real thing at the highest levels? (This would give me an incentive to try harder  ). I don't know, I didn't test for it or plan for it -- though unlike pac-man for this to screw up you'd have to reach level 65536... since I used a word instead of a by...

Re: Internal 512k expansion?
I'm more referring to putting these: http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/SHS-40/SINGLE-ROW-HEADER-1-X-40//1.html on a board one row off from a socket and then soldering across rows, or you put them next to female row headers like: http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/SIP-40/40...

Re: Internal 512k expansion?
When I was doing stuff on perf-board and needed a pass-through I'd always just get a string of header pins, cut them to size and wire them in parallel to the socket I was going to use. You had to solder 'tight' and trim them down to get the socket in place over one of the rows of pins (dremel to fil...

Re: Paku Paku -- 1.3 released
1- I still have issues with joystick down despite proper calibration. The joystick works fine with other games. Anybody else has experienced that issue? Unable to recreate that here, could be a quirk in how the Jr. handles the joystick -- it's using the same code for left/right as it is up/down, so...

Re: Paku Paku -- 1.3 released
Ok, I made the assumption all voices were off when you start the sound -- apparently the Jr. starts out with the voices at a random low frequency setting. http://www.cutcodedown.com/retroGames/alphaEXE/PAKU1_34.RAR That SHOULD fix the buzzing on startup -- no guarantees though. If not, I'll set it u...

Re: Paku Paku -- 1.3 released
I'm going to re-read the section explaining what registers do what on the Jr as well. I made a few changes that may have gone a bit too far in trying to make it Jr. specific. -- edit -- http://www.cutcodedown.com/retroGames/alphaEXE/PAKU1_33.rar That's had a lot of the Jr. changes removed and instea...

Re: Paku Paku -- 1.3 released
Alright, if you come out with anything else, I won't be able to test it until tomorrow. I think my V20 died - I turn on the PCjr and I get a white screen and a buzzing noise. Same as when the CPU is removed. I think it's either that, or I've accidentally shorted something out. I've got a couple of ...

Re: Microsoft Macro Assembler 1.0
You know normally I wouldn't look too kindly on a flame war on this site. It's only a flame war when someone takes it personally - I'm not, I'm hoping you're not either... Of course being a backwoods New Englander I can insult you fifteen ways from sunday and not even be aware I'm doing it... There...
