Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
Another status update, though it isn't much of one. I've been having difficulty finding time to actively work on this lately. I'll have some time this week, but the next two weekends are definitely out as I'm moving and have to make an out of state trip. I did scratch a few hours out this past weeke...

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
I programmed the PLDs and the POST display came up and worked. Beyond that I need to reorganize my bench to get my JR and a 386 w/ a 360K drive next to each other in arms reach for further testing. Good old floppy net. At this point you will have to grind pins down to use these PCBs and if there is ...

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
I had some free time tonight to grind the pins down with a Dremel and finish assembling the board. I plugged it into my Jr just to see how things fit. The board connector probably need to shift over to the left a few hundredths, but I was able to get it plugged in and the holes registered in the sta...

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
PCBs arrived today. I already ordered 4 parts kits to send out to folks too. However I've already found several issues. One pretty severe. The drill size on the holes for the side car connector (~1mm) are a bit too small. Once the assembled board comes out of the dishwasher and I recharge my camera,...

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
I don't have the PCBs yet, but I did order a round of parts to make sure all the mechanicals were correct. Everything seemed like it is going to fit and function correctly with one exception. I haven't found a good solution for the JTAG cable yet. I ordered a pre-formed flat cable and IDC connector,...

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
First spin PCB order is in. Depending on panel space in this run, I'll either get 3 or 6 boards in roughly 2 weeks. I've also posted the design files for the P1 spin here . The design has changed a little. Instead of dropping the POST display, I kept the PLD doing the decoding and used it to generat...

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
I measured the hole spacing today with a really good caliper. The horizontal separation is 151.0mm and the vertical separation is 56.3mm from center to center. The PCB drill size is 6.2mm. I couldn't take relative measurements of anything else as I only brought the back plastic shell piece with me. ...

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
Mine are a little different. Trying to figure out which is more accurate. My lower and left screw post holes line up with yours. However I have the uppers 9.5mm down from the top edge. And I originally had my drills at 6mm instead of 7. I recently made them 6.2 for margin. There are plastic grommets...

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr
jmetal88, could you send me your mechanical dimensions for board, drills, and pins? I'd like to cross check them with what I have. I think I'm within about 20 mils accuracy but I'm going to build in some margin on the holes just in case. The 4 main holes are really the only thing that register the b...
