Re: Is there a way to perform the Tandy Mod externally

This probably isn't that relevant, but when I did mine, I desoldered the TTLs, lifted the pins, completely removed the trace, then reinstalled the ICs and jumped everything that needed to be jumped with 30AWG kynar insulated wirewrap. It came out looking pretty clean and the solder mask doesn't have...

Re: Greeting from New Jersey

Awesome! It's cool to see you here. I've seen you around the Vintage Computer Forums, but we've never really made any communication considering the fact that I don't actively post around there.

Re: YAM!

How many Michaels have we got on this board, anyhow?

*Every member stands up and raises a hand saying "Yo!"*

I knew it, I'm surrounded by Michaels…

Re: XT-IDE on PCjr

DO NOT USE A CLUSTER SIDECAR WITHOUT A POWER SIDECAR. Sorry for the ominous warning, but there was a PCjr owner years ago who did not do this and he melted some of the internal power supply card. Are we talking about Pitz who put the power sidecar after the cluster adapter or someone else? I'm sure...

Re: 30th Anniversary

the comments were not a complete puke fest. At least it wasn't as bad as "PCjr is dumb computer. It can only do 16 colors, uses big floppy dicks that can't hold much and doesn't even the internet. It's expensive cheap plastic with crappy ttl ICs and I can't even play DOOM or Warcraft." 8P...

Measure the voltage. There is quite a difference, especially when multiplied by 4.
Definitely. I usually get just over 1.3 per cell rather than 1.5 like an alkaline.

Re: Chiclet keyboard battery consumption?

I was thinking one of his keys might be stuck, but I can't imaging which one it could be without going unnoticed. Btw, I'm aware about the lower voltage and the voltage drops with the rechargeables, but I've never had a problem with these 2300mAh batteries I've been using. I use the same kinds in my...

Re: Chiclet keyboard battery consumption?

Interesting how you bring up battery life. Do you have a problem with the non-chiclet keyboard? (assuming you have one) I just recharged my batteries in my revised freeboard a few days back because I realized I haven't charged them since the summer, though they weren't dead yet, just wanted to make ...

Thanks! It works great now.

5% is probably more appropriate for a board that sees a a few thousand posts a day, but fifty percent is probably perfect for this one.

Re: Near-useless search bar.

It's kind of hard to know what the problem is without a description. What did you search for (exact term) that you could not find? And yes, it's not a Google search. You might do better searching Google and letting it give you the reference link back to the forum post. (This is indexed.) Mike I hav...
