Re: PCjr speedup
It would be a fairly simple mod if so. That's what I would do if I we're making a Tandy mod. I still don't understand how that would break compatibility with anything. The Tandy Mod doesn't break compatibility with anything (AFAIK) but using the jrExcelleratror's on board video memory breaks PCjr-C...

Re: PCjr speedup
Correct the Tandy mod redirects 32k from B800h to the PCjrs video buffer. Unmodified the PCjr will only redirect 16K. One of the features of the JrExcellerator was an onboard video buffer, that when turned on, eliminated the need for jrconfig or other video buffer software. While it was compatible w...

Re: PCjr speedup
If I could get a jrExcellerator for a reasonable price, I would probably go that way. Not if I see it first. Seriously, I have never seen one in the wild. I got mine back in 1991 from PC Enterprises. I think Mike found his in a computer, if memory serves. The Tandy Mod involves piggy backing a chip...

Re: PCjr speedup
I have the PC Enterprises jrExcellerator in one of my PCjrs and have found that it works pretty much flawlessly. Some people have complained of beeps but there is a patch for that. The only downside is there are a few early PC programs that run too fast for my like, eg Bouncing Babies, Killer Bees. ...

Re: JR-IDE Rev.B & Rev.C + RPi-Zero Module
I am using 128 MB DOMs on both my PCjrs. If I had to do it to again I might have gotten a 512 MB. I am using DOS 3.3 so I have it broken up into 4 32 MB drives. The DOMs are fast which helps with loading programs and file functions. A laptop drive would probably be much slower than a DOM? The DOM pu...

Re: JR-IDE Rev.B & Rev.C + RPi-Zero Module
The pricing seems very fair. I was planned on using a laptop hard drive. I have a few laying around from when I used to rebuild laptop computers. What additional hardware would I need? I thought the board could supply that level of power and I might just need a 3.5 to 2.5 ide adapter. Disk On Modul...

Re: JR-IDE Rev.B & Rev.C + RPi-Zero Module
As far as the cash situation, I would be willing to put a deposit on one. If some of the other people who have inquired about them would also be willing it might give you some working capital. The clock with a replaceable battery is appealing and I hope both me and the PCjr are around as when we cel...

Re: Parellel port questions
Just swapped out the 5.25" floppy with a 3.5" 720 K (double density) floppy drive and a standard 5.25" to 3.5" adapter in the Racore unit. I also swapped out the 5.25"floppy for a 3.5" 720 K floppy in my other non Racore PCjr. You also need a power adapter. There is a l...

Re: Parellel port questions
The jumpers are in the sidecar. I am not sure if they are marked so you may need the Quadram Manual. The default should be lpt1 and I/0'378h. Lpt2 should be set for I/0 3F8h The Datafab CF memory card reader allows me to transfer files from another computer to the PCjr. The network adapter is more e...
