Re: PC XT in da house!
XTs are generally nice machines. They are widely compatible with everything, which is the complete opposite of the PCjr. They have 8 slots instead of five, which makes them more versatile than the original PC 5150. They don't have a cassette port, but nobody is perfect - only the PCjr and the origi...

One step closer to complete Kings Quest
I picked up the red label floppy today, so now just now need the keyboard overlay and warranty registration card, if there was one. Does anyone have either of these they aren't asking a mint for? I'll accept either the full or partial overlay.

Re: Electric Desk cart
There was also a floppy version for PC/XT. Does anyone know if that version will work on a Jr?

Re: Software for Cluster adapter
Technically speaking, it is an Ethernet-like network, so you don't connect any machines to each other - you connect them to the same segment of wire. The problem is that the software assumes a client/server setup, where PCjrs are clients and there is a server on the network. It's possible to send d...

Re: Software for Cluster adapter
Yes ... One side is the server, which runs on an XT or AT class machine. On the PCjr side I think the cluster adapter has enough of a BIOS extension to do a remote boot from the server. There is also software for passing messages. I'm not sure what the file sharing solution looks like; it has been ...

Re: PCjr Cartridge Collection
I need Demon Attack. I only ever saw one on ebay and it sold over $100 for a loose cartridge. I have a boxed copy of Pitfall II that cost me less than half that. It was sealed originally but I had to open it because the box said IBM PC floppy version on it and I had never heard of that before.

Re: Anyone ever see a somewhat official use for a PCjr?
There was a rather nice expanded PCjr in use at city hall in Oswego, NY in 1991/1992. I rescued it when it was retired in 1992. Having owned one since 1984 I was shocked that somebody was being subjected to that in the early 90s. As the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Some...

Re: PC-Sprint negative: joysticks don't function
Some old games that are timing dependent may also not run if the system is running too fast. Like when you try to run a 8088 or 286 era game on a fast 486 or Pentium. It rarely works as intended. So speeding up the CPU may have further reaching consequences. That was why early PC's with a turbo mode...

3.5 inch floppy
Is anyone using a 3.5 inch floppy drive with a PCjr? What kind of drive are you using and what is the density? Is it internal or in an external enclosure? What is required to make one of these work with Jr?
