Re: 286 mod?

I saw that, too. I was not able to find any information about any 286 upgrades that were ever advertised or released. It seems pointless to me, though, because it looks like you'd be mounting a 16-bit chip on an 8-bit bus which would cripple it severely. Having to access memory beyond 128k indirectl...

Re: Color Monitor for my PCjr

OK, that's the TV adapter. I use the monitor that was made for the PCjr, so I don't know about output to a TV or the IBM 5153, although I do have a TV adapter. I can only assume that the output for either of the monitors would be better than TV output because TV is an interlaced signal.

Re: 3.5" Drive Installed ONLY 360K ??

I'm wondering if you might not have a 360k 3.5" floppy drive mechanism. The Atari 520ST used those when they were first released.

I think he means the adapter that lets you use the IBM color display 5153.

Re: SPC Diskitjr

Hard to say. There isn't much code that uses an 8087, so it's not a terribly useful option. A 286 accelerator on a PCjr is a nice gag, but if I wanted an AT I would have started with one. ;-0 Or put another way, at some point if you add enough options you don't have a PCjr .. you have a highly inco...

Re: Tandy Video Mod

You'd have to ask someone who's actually done the mod. I also have a Tandy 1000 for those games, so I don't need to do it.

Re: Tandy Video Mod

The Tandy graphics vary a bit in the way memory is allocated from the PCjr graphics and has more software support.

Re: Hooking up PCjr floppy drive to Windows XP machine

There was a 5.25" drive that I heard about a while back that would connect to a modern PC but from all I have read about it, it was read only for transferring files from old floppies to a more stable medium like CD/DVD/Blu Ray. I haven't seen one that connects to a modern machine that can read ...
