Re: Bridge System Recommendations

Thanks Mike. I've been reading a lot of stuff and as a template i've kind of started watching all the YouTube content on Retro Gaming. I'm not a gamer but those system seem to be pretty interesting as you can buy new Socket 7 boards and they kind of live in that late DOS era I think i need to target...

Re: Bridge System Recommendations

Thanks for the reply. A pentium 1 I think can run W98. I agree I need the 360,1.2, and 1.44. I think that 22disk is rather picky about the drive controller chips. Any suggestions on specific drive controller cards is appreciated. Such a fascinating subject, image how hard it will be to do what im tr...

Much of not all the help came from this board and I really appreciate it. I restore a lot of different systems hence the reason i come and go. You have a great resource h...

Re: First Test of Parallel Port Activity LED

Pretty sweet there! Now I guess I have to find another one on eBay and try that ;-). Let us
know if you go there. It's actually a very cool mod and I'm glad I did it.

Re: I guess Turbo C++ 3 doesn't support 8088?

I think it will "generate" 8088 code" on a 286+ but it won't actually run on an 8008 box. So, I installed version 1 C++ that is surprisingly pretty good. You can't change the UI colors in the IDE which is, ahh, retro for sure. But it does work. I reverted to TP3 which, as I recall, is...

"dir" replacement?

In college, I wrote a DOS "dir" replacement in Turbo Pascal for fun to try out DOS calls. Now after getting my jrIDE and 30mb partitions going the "wait" on calculating "free disk space" is crazy. I actually don't want to know that every time I issue a "DIR" c...

I guess Turbo C++ 3 doesn't support 8088?

After a lot of messing around, I think the Jr is limited to Turbo C++ 1.0. Maybe I should have known that but it kept failing on DPMI server something or other that has something to do with protected memory. That sounds like 286+ territory. Argggg!
