I spent some more time on this project, this morning and settled on this circuit.
It works really well in both directions reading and writing data to the ZipDrive.

I'll probably build a little board and try it out.

Internal ZipDrive? What am I doing here? :-)
Ok, I'm approaching the point of no return here. Once you get your Jr going, booting, floppy working, parallel port, Zip Drive, JrIDE, Dos5, V20... (that was a journey) You get to the point where you are at, what am I in this for? I found that you cross over from "can this happen", to &quo...

Re: Long-time lurker, first-time poster
I too am only a month (maybe 6 weeks in). I had the Jr 128K, soon added the Racore drive 2. Graduated from College and moved on to Mac Plus (I was at NASA and that what I did). Moved on to Sparc Station, back to Mac, on to Linux, back to Mac. (there were some PC's in there somewhere). FF to the last...

Put your PCjr in the Dishwasher
What? Yes I know, many of you on this forum are hardware guys (and know this), but many probably are not. I bought a Jr that had a bad internal power supply failure before I bought it and the entire insides were trashed. Soot, etc. I made sure it all worked (at least the motherboard) then disassembl...

Re: First Test of Parallel Port Activity LED
Yes, I'm strangely interested in the network adaptor. If I understand correctly from reading your content you have a TCP/IP stack for the Jr. I assume its a TSR utility but, to be honest, I can't quite remember. Might give that a try! Just ordered three serial port proto cards off eBay. Not sure why...

Re: First Test of Parallel Port Activity LED
It's a very simple TTL Logic design. Just two chips, two resistors, and an LED. A good digital engineer could probably get it down to one off the shelf IC instead of two. But even with the current design, it's like $2 to make one. The inputs come from the LPT connector (you can see it in the video w...

First Test of Parallel Port Activity LED
In modern times there really isn't much use for the Jr Parallel Port Side Car other than for a Zip Drive. After performing the Jr bidirectional mod I was thinking while I had the board out I might try my hand at a small circuit to add an LED to the sidecar to show activity much as I have on my jrIDE...

Re: uEmacs and pcJr (anyone? Is this Mic on? tap tap)
So digging into the source. I'm not an accomplished bios programmer but I do think I have it down to the last layer before the bios here. The symptom is much like the intXfix program as it appears the editor as continuos keys being pressed (followed by) "no-key-bound", hilarity ensues... T...

Im running Dos 3.3. Heading for 5 but just got 3.3 running. I do have Turbo C on dosbox so maybe I'll head there once I run out of other options.
