Before the jrIDE ...

Back on Mike's original PCjr forum in the early 2000s, there were many discussions on getting the PCjr to boot from a hard drive. With lots of help, I managed to get my PCjr to boot from a Seagate MFM hard drive using an XT controller card with rewritten BIOS. Below is a picture of the monstrosity I created. This should make you appreciate your jrIDE!

I don't know how I missed this post when you made it. But yes, it reminds me of what an abomination the older methods were. (This particular method came from within IBM.)

I still have that version of the ISA bus card. Mine *kind* of works with SCSI cards, but it was unstable. I might have a Xebec card with the rewritten BIOS, but I never got this far.
