Freakin Funky Fuzzballs

Post by KenG »

I bought this off eBay. Installed it but it locks up the Jr both using CGA or 4 color Tandy mode. Has anyone run this on a PCjr? If so, how? I may try booting to a DOS 3.1 floppy if it will fit on a 1.44 floppy. Any ideas? Is this a case where the Jr CGA not being 100% hardware compatible is causing a problem?

When your version starts up, does it display Version 1.00 or Version 1.03?

1.00. It runs on my DTK DATA-1000.

1.03 has less bugs as tested in an emulator. Give that version a try on the PCjr and see if it's any better. You can find both the installer as well as installed files here: ftp://ftp.oldskool.org/pub/misc/Software/Games/

Ok, I has V1.03 on a CD. Tried it. It locks up in a different place, but still doesn't work on the PCjr.

Then you have your answer :-) 1990 was a bit late for developers to care about PCjr compatibility, as it was 5 years after the system was discontinued. Also, most europeans have never seen a PCjr; it wasn't popular over there, and IIRC that's where the Fuzzballs developers were from.

Oh well, I can play it on the DTK system. Thanks for your help.
