Ok I tried the latest version of TDL and I'm still getting the reboot issue every time. I've attached my log file and the backpack.sys file I use just in case that is the problem.

When it reboots, do you see the PKUNZIP screen at all?

I just want to confirm, you are loading jrconfig, right? If you don't, the program stomps on itself when it writes to video memory (which I verified, but is not at all surprising).

If you are running jrconfig, perform this test:

If that reboots, then the problem is pkunzip. If it works, then edit TDL.INI and change the "swapping" line to read "swapping=disabled", delete everything in c:\temp\cache.dir, and try running TDL.EXE again and let me know what happens.

Is C: your backpack drive?

I saw the text for pkunzip briefly before the reboot, but I don't think it actually got to unzipping anything (just displayed the copyright message). I'll try those steps tomorrow and let you know.

My backpack drive is D but I have it assigned to B. C is my hard drive (well DOM module anyway).

I entered the commands manually and got the same reset I was getting from TDL. What does this mean?

It means that pkunzip is rebooting your computer, which I have never seen before in my entire life. Maybe you should run through the diagnostics (ctrl-alt-ins) for memory, maybe see if pkunzip 2.50 also reboots your computer, maybe try unloading the backpack driver. The version of jrconfig I'm using is 2.14, the non-ramdisk version, maybe try that with exactly this config.sys line:

What's the difference between the two jrconfigs other than the RAM disk (which I don't use)?

EDIT: The new pkzip didn't make a difference

EDIT2: Looks like the older jrconfig doesn't work either.

EDIT3: Ok without the backpack.sys file it works. So it looks like that's the problem. I found one on minuszerodegrees.net which was a little older than mine and seems to have fixed the problem.
