New JR owner from TX

Post by alphaseinor »

Hey,

I went ahead and did the computer reset trip. I originally went for my other habit, a color computer.

I found there were a boat load of PCjr systems. There are spare cases, motherboards, power supplies, keyboards, monitors, modems, expansion modules, joysticks, tv adapters, you name it, they probably have it.

Just need to dig to get at it.

Anyways, glad to be here. Bought one for me, and one for my Dad, working on getting my jrIDE going.

Mike, I'm going to send you some stuff for this wonderful resource!

Greetings and you are welcome!

It's funny but after years of this forum being quiet now I can't keep up with all of the messages. The silver lining in the the Computer Reset cloud is all of the people who now have access to these machines.

I think that you are 100% right, I had never even seen a PCjr first hand prior to Computer Reset 'closing'. I got interested when I watched a couple of videos on youtube, and with them becoming easily available I thought this might be a fun computer to try out.

I did have an XT back in the day and am having to work to remember DOS commands. I never really played games on my PC as CGA was so bad, but the 16 color PCjr/Tandy mode interest me. Also with CR closing as far as Vintage Computer Systems go these are super cheap. I have a few Apple II era machines and parts and rare pieces for that system can be stupid expensive.

I look forward to the conversations increasing here and on the Fb PCjr group.
