Just got my first PCJr

Hey guys I like to find a restore old computers, but I've never had a PCJr before. What a weird machine. I bought it from a guy that used to work for IBM. Part of his job was to upgrade sidecars to 512k for internal use at IBM. This sidecar is one that he upgraded. He also gave me some text files that he got from coworkers on some of the technical pin out information, as well as a BBS conversation about how to build a CGA adapter from radioshack parts. I've uploaded them to archive.org.

This guy also said he used to crack software/games under the name "The Cisco Kid"

The monitor has some issues, I can only get a faint image on the screen.

I've done a little work on CRTs, but mostly just reflowing solder joints. This will be my first attempt to fully recap a logic board. I hope that fixes the issue. I came across this forum looking for information on the monitor and found a post where someone listed all the caps needed, which was really helpful.

It also came with a bunch of SIERRA and D&D games that have been a fun challenge to get to work properly.

Anyway, I'm sure you get a lot of posts like this, but just wanted to share it with people who might appreciate it.

A belated welcome to you ... I try to keep up with things here but you can see I'm failing miserably.

The machine was more "weird" back 20 or 30 years ago, but I think that over time anything still running DOS has become weird in general. So the PCjr doesn't stand out as much. ;-0

Welcome aboard! I've had my PCjr since my dad bought it when I was about 8 years old. I still mess around with it and have been upgrading it recently for the fun of it. Thanks for the pinout info, I've tucked a copy away in case I ever need the reference.

I've never had to work on my CRT fortunately. I know enough to know I don't really want to get bit by one, lol. Best of luck getting it working perfectly again. I'd be happy to hear how it goes and any tips in case I've ever got to re-cap mine! .

What D&D games ran on the PCjr? I'm not sure I explicitly remember any.
