Hello from BackBit

Post by evietron »

Hi, my name is Evie and I create a line of products by the name of BackBit.

My latest endeavor is a cartridge adapter for the PCjr. That is, you can plug my BackBit Pro cartridge into this adapter which then goes into the PCjr.

Here's a video of the basics, along with a 512K sidecar I built.

Let me know what you think!

Greetings, and welcome!

The 512K "sidecar" was so small that I missed it the first time I watched the video; it was only a few seconds in the video when you installed it, and it is so small that it is hidden by the machine in the video.

Do I understand correctly that the BackBit is the same device for all machines, except for the machine specific adapters? Is the PCjr adapter entirely passive (wiring only), or are there active components on it?

Hi Mike,

I uploaded another video that has an audio narration: http://eviesrevue.com

Attached are some up-close shots of the sidecar. I might make a SMT version if there is sufficient interest.

The BackBit cartridge has the same menu for all machines, but obviously the software is very different depending on a number of factors. Yet, it all runs on a single firmware.

The PCjr adapter is passive. Some adapters require an extra component or two to make everything work properly.
