Here’s a quick update on the state of things at Computer Reset.
We sold the last of the PCjr kits (
described above) on 23 January 2022. Volunteers officially declared them out of stock last summer, but I’ve been able to cobble together a few from parts since then. Each became more time consuming as I had to do ever more cleanup and repairs. I finally got around to piecing together and repairing the last one (no two parts came with each other originally!) in time for LGR’s follow-up visit to CR.
The guy who bought it had all the volunteers, LGR, and The 8-Bit Guy sign it. He’s already posted
a video about his trip. I just hope his PCjr and monitor make it back to Sweden intact.
LGR is working on a follow-up video, one of our frequent shoppers says he’s working on a video, and one of the volunteers recently posted
an official video on the state of CR:
Since November, CR has switched to a fixed price model: pay $150 at the door and haul away as much as you can within your 2.5 hour time slot. Some people have been taking good advantage and hauling away large loads, but literal tons of stuff remain. The current plan is to end the sales around April, so time is running out. See
my original post for information about joining the liquidation Facebook group and signing up to go to the sales.
Here’s my rough estimate of what remains of the PCjr inventory:
