It works!!

Thank you so much for the extra help figuring this out. I had been limping along trying to use a linux boot disk on an old laptop. Once I did a full linux install everything behaved much better.

I see there's a problem with it fitting the ROM in a socket in the cartridge slot. (I picked up a pair of ROM boards off of ebay to experiment with, it looks like it'll have the same problem.)

A friend used these in her cart project to make a ROM socket that fit in the socket profile - https://www.peconnectors.com/sockets-si ... d/hws5470/

It requires larger holes so it's not a drop-in replacement for a socket, but it works pretty well!
