Patching DOS 5.0 for the PCjr

This is a few years late but I took some time this weekend to write the procedure down. For ease of editing it is in a Google doc, but it is open to the public:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/16WI ... sp=sharing

I've tested it once from start to finish. Writing it took hours, but "replaying" it was under 45 minutes. It would be more convenient to write a program, but by describing the process it becomes adaptable for other versions of DOS.

Please yell at me if you have corrections, comments or suggestions.

I tested this earlier this afternoon with DOS 6.22 (the 360k "Upgrade" disk set) and can confirm that the procedure is the same, with one additional hitch. FORMAT.COM and SYS.COM are packed with Pklite and you need to Pkunlite them before DEBUGing them, and then re-Pklite them. 6.22 seems to work just as well as any of the others.

Mike,
Very nice write up. I look forward to giving it a go once I get my keyboard sorted out. Chris
