MS Flight Simulator

I have Version 4.0 of Microsoft Flight Simulator, whose requirements are stated as 384K RAM and a floppy disk drive. My PCjr came with 128K and I have two 128K sidecars. When I boot up, the count on the monitor does go up to 384K, but when I try to open FS, I get a message that the program is too large for the available memory. Any ideas why I'd get that message even though I appear to meet the requirements?

Well, you don't really meet the requirements ... The Jr is missing 16KB of RAM in CGA mode because of the video buffer. And with the extended video modes (which I doubt FS 4.0 uses) you would be missing 32KB.

If you did not boot using a memory management device driver then DOS thinks that only 116KB are available. Are you using Jrconfig or something similar to configure the extra memory?

Thanks for the response. No, I'm not familiar with any configuration options.

You must be new. ;-0

Read up on jrConfig ... my PCjr web site has a pretty in-depth discussion on the hardware and why the memory handling is so screwed up.
