So I stumbled across SHAKEjr and INTROjr which I have downloaded and ran on my PCjr. They are fantastic and I recognize at least one of the coders from posts on this forum. I guess that's not too surprising really but I was kindof surprised that there isn't any threads dedicated to these specific demos or demo software in general. These things are a really cool way to exercise and show off old hardware and I just love them.

I found one called "64k ought to be enough" and it is also very good but my copy freezes up at the very end during the keyboard test routine. There is already a thread about that one somewhere on this board.

I have downloaded a bunch of AGI Sierra demos too and those are cool. I feel like they were run during business hours at computer stores. I've also heard of one called Tandy64jr but haven't looked at it yet.

What other ones do you all know about? Not necessarily for the PCjr specifically but ones that will run on the PCjr. I think I tried to run 8088MPH at one point and didn't work but it's been a while and was before I knew that this software demo thing was like a whole scene. The pouet.net site is all about it but I wasn't able to navigate it very well last night. There is so much content for so many systems! Calculators and typewriters even. Who knew? Not me!!. LOL

Congrats on discovering the tiny, but passionate, PCjr demoscene :-) Because I'm roughly 75% of the "scene", I'm obviously biased, but hopefully there will be more productions for the PCjr from either me or others. The system has a lot of untapped potential (I'm not kidding, the fact that you can use 112KB for video opens up some possibilities).

pouet.net is the central hub, but there are others; you can poke around demozoo.org to dive into different platforms, people, groups, etc.

The demoscene is a huge topic, but has always been slightly underground, so there's no single place I can tell you where to start, but if there's a specific area of interest you're curious about, maybe I can help. I'm glad you discovered the existence of calculator/printer/etc. demos, those are also fun. If it has a computer, we can hack it...

Ahh thanks for the links! I've pulled myself out of this rabbit hole for now. Spent a lot of time on pouet.net and am able to navigate it a little better. I'll look forward to viewing the short and exploring the other links you sent. Should be a good start on diving back in

Maybe someday I'll join a little bit . I'm still learning assembly in my "copious" (*cough*) spare time. In the mean time I've got some videos to get out and need to get back to fixing issues with my picoATX.

I picked up Oscar Toledo's Programming Boot Second Games and More Boot Sector Games, they seem interesting. I'm amazed at what fits in 510 bytes.

His books are great places to start.
