Networking with an older computer

Just for fun:

Image
PCjr FTP connection to the (rudimentary) FTP server on my Mise http://home.comcast.net/~bartlett.p/MISE/index.html -equipped TRS-80 Model I in the background.
Image
PCjr screen (note, using Mike Brutman's mTPC suite)

Image
TRS-80 (VGA!) screen (note, taken in low ambient so it's a little pixelated). (Looks like I haven't changed the .cfg to reflect daylight saving time.)

Now all we need is an 8088 acting as a router inbetween the two (kidding!)

Neat! I had no idea about the MISE project. I wonder if that could easily be adapted to work on the Coleco ADAM (my favorite classic home computer) since it's a Z80 based machine as well.

I don't know about the Adam. I asked him about a TRS-80 MIII or M4, he said no because only the MI outputs a memory control signals (for the VGA) and it depends on specific bytes in ROM for the autoboot.

What intrigues me most, vis-à-vis PCjr's, is the Ethernet module: a WIZ830MJ (datasheet: http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/443/WIZ830MJ-268477.pdf) $22.39 from Mouser. From a non-engineer, it would be a neat feature of the next gen of the jrIDE.
