PC-XT Turbo

I just bought this off of eBay:

DTK DATA-1000 Turbo XT clone

8088-2 ar 4.77 or 10 MHz
640 KB RAM
30MB Seagate ST-238 hard drive
1.2MB floppy drive
Datatech MFM controller
DTK HEXA I/O plus controller
Compudyne VGA800 video card

The computer give an error beep code but boots up. Code is long, short, long, short, long, short. Does this when stripped of all except video card. Anyone have an idea as to what is wrong?

I have tried several clock programs, but cannot access even after replacing the battery.

I paid less the $100, so it is still a good buy.

1 long Keyboard Failed or Locked, Interrupt or other system board error
*** long short, long short, long short Video Initialization Failure, or Invalid Video Switch Setting ***

My experience with old DTK Bios was they were the least compatible of the popular generic BIOS (eg AMI, Phoenix, Award). While I never had any issues with DOS, I had one machine that wouldn't run SCO Unix.

Thanks for the reply James. It was a dip switch setting. Whoever installed the VGA card must not have known to change it.

Do you know anything about the clock? Tried several utilities so far but no luck. Changed the battery, so I know it is OK.

As a XT class machine, does it even have a clock? Early XT class machines had no CMOS or built in clocks. Later XT class machines, such as the IBM PS/2 model 30 (8086), had clocks.

The HEXA I/O plus card has a clock.

Perhaps one of these might work. Like everything on the internet I would scan them with a DOS Virus Scanner before using it.

Thanks, I will try them when I have some time. I have found a bunch of them. I will just have to keep trying until I find one that works.

Jumper 1 selects clock1 or clock2? That's seems strange.

I haven't figured out the clock yet, but I got a Sound Blaster Vibra 16 today. With the help of a utility from vcfed.org, I got it running. VGA graphics and Sound Blaster sound. This is how first PC compatible was.

This is how YOUR first PC compatible was. Mine was CGA and speaker ;-) (although I did have a 640x400 mode and 8MHz 8086 on my clone)
