Just got the Jr in the mail, looks to be ok...Monitor needs focus adjusted, easy to do...
but I realized I do not have a 5.25 Dos disk at least a good one...
Any one have a dos disk for booting they care to share ?
thanks
Chuck

What version of DOS are you looking for?
I regularly use PC DOS 2.1, PC DOS 3.3, and PC DOS 5.02. PC DOS 2.1 needs to be patched for some terrible bugs. PC DOS 5.02 needs to be patched to allow it to run on a PCjr, and the machine requires 256K.
Do you have a way to create diskettes using an electronic image or do you need diskettes mailed to you?

That's the rub, I dont have another system with 5.25 floppy... ugh
I am happy to pay for a couple copies, ( would like to have a Spare )
I have not used PC Dos, or patch version so I am open for some guidance..
thanks very much, good to be back with the Jr crowd..

another question, will PC Dos 6.1 work on the Jr?
Ebay has a copy....will pick it up if this is a working path to get booted...

I can get diskettes to you ... I was just hoping that somebody else would volunteer first.

I'm horribly behind at home up so finding time is every so slightly painful ...
Also, I would not bother with anything about DOS 5.02. There really is no advantage. DOS 6.22 will work if you really want the bleeding edge. DOS 7 / PC DOS 2000 might work.

Mike
just to be clear...
DOS 5.0 is what you are recommending ?
PC-DOS 5 / 6 can comment on this ?
thanks

All you need is DOS 2.1, DOS 3.3, and DOS 5. Those represent the three major variations of DOS for the PC family. (I'm ignoring DOS 4, which has a bad reputation and was shorted lived.)
DOS 6.x and later basically look like DOS 5 with some tweaks. Under the covers they are not much different.
